With calm holiday times again for 2021, we came into January with plenty of work to fill things in with. With many finished shells lying around, coating has begun. Restoration work continues on Bluemyth, our 100th jackal. When things allow, we will be taking on other refurbishments but the focus has been towards the queue opening for the beginning of 2022, as well as Further Confusion.
Usually this time is the calm before the storm, but what happens when the storm gets cancelled? Further Confusion was one of the last fandom conventions to happen before the 2020 lockdown and cessation of large events and gatherings. While it looked like they could return for 2022, the COVID cases and hospitalization chart went vertical again. Its part of that post-holiday spike. While it was best for them to cancel the event, it does mean that the art show auction wont happen.
In the days since the cancellation, we have sought out other options. Namely, we wanted to keep with the auction format but we wanted to use a service or site that was connected to our communities of furry, sci-fi and anime fandoms. So, meet Dealers Den…..
We know that not everyone who sees our website would have a Dealers’ Den account. So, consider this blog post deliberately timed to allow people some days to sign up for one. Don’t worry that you will have a 0 next to your name (because you have not bought or sold anything on there, and therefore have no feedback). We understand that Dealers’ Den might be a new place for some of you.
With a hectic 2017 in the distant past, its time to look towards the next year. No shortage of fun events related to gear, masks or costuming in general. For Stego, it has been quite a while since he has attended a convention, since 2017 did compel us to slow down and deal with any of the unpleasant challenges.
Stego will enjoy meeting with fellow scalies and fuzzies hanging out at Further Confusion 2018. Despite all the orders we are finishing up, he managed to finish a jackal just in time for the art show. It will come with some extra hookups for this year’s art show, which might appeal to those who like to add on gear. Our mask offering is located in the FC 2018 Art Show, Table A4
Scaleworx Resin and Rubber sergal mask. With the quintessential wedge shape, those around you will be met with the blue mirrored gaze. Each side port fits 40MM NATO threaded accessories.
Our JG 1.5 wont be alone on the table, as our table area will also offer some designs from Scaleworx. Taku Dragon has been working hard in the lab, perfecting his craft and has come up with some items special for the art show. Squeaky sergals and rabbits can rejoice, knowing that there is a gasmask design just for them.
While enjoying ‘labcon’ on a weekend of my own, I am going to be working on more gallery updates. Been slowly working on some cleanup with the website galleries. Hope you have enjoyed what has been shared thus far, but we may tweet more in real time as the art show continues.
Once our dino has returned we will be working through the rest of the month on end-of-year stuff alongside finishing up our current orders. Wild Gasmasks will soon be changing gears and no shortage on things to begin this year with.
Stego departed from the mountain yesterday afternoon, ready for some furry fun. First trip of the new year, and the boys have worked hard enough to enjoy some fun for the convention weekend. Stego arrived last night but rose early this morning (early for a convention anyway) and has gotten our items placed on the convention floor. So, if you are looking to pick up something nice and squeaky, here is our inventory of items for this year’s art show…
Special Item : Wild Mask A feline that allows you to breathe (and drink) easy. Wildgasmask products are usually designed around enclosure of some kind, but we never run out of alternative suggestions that might veer us away from the status quo. We created a hybrid of something that encases but that is less restrictive than our typical hoods. The hood was used to our advantage to keep the chin covered up from those who may be standing nearby. The area of exposed skin is minimal, leaving an opening just large enough to accommodate a straw and give the wearer a clearer breathing passage. You can consider this a ‘wild mask’ (vs a ‘wild gasmask’). The internal components were not added to this mask, but upon purchase, this mask will come with a set of our standard smoke lenses.
Stego will be around the convention til Sunday. If you own one of our masks and have any light repair needs, we can help you. Please contact us through our Twitter account or through Stego’s public account – @stego_s_aurus_p. we have brought a compact collection of tools with us. This will allow us to address any simple repair jobs for people who have brought their masks to the convention.
We look forward to seeing some of you again this year….
The holiday months are always a slower time for us, as we spend time with family and our schedules change. With the slower workload in winter months, we often find it perfectly aligned with making changes for the next year. Things were slightly different this time, but we still find ourselves working on some projects that have us revisiting some ideas.
We also have Further Confusion coming up. With our progress, we have a couple (if not a few) pieces for sale at Further Confusion’s Art Show. Expect us to post (or tweet) more detail as time draws closer.
Speaking of custom paint designs, there is a slight change towards how we deal with masks that have a custom paint design. After a few bumps in the road regarding custom painted orders this year, we realize the commitment that such a task entails. As such, custom paint designs will require a non-refundable deposit.
With this new year, people often think of significant change. To Kat, there is no better time like the present to improve on yourself and create something new or forge a new path from your passions. There are things all of us here in the lab can think of which we would like to bring forth but we always take these things one day at a time. Instead, we are lead to appreciate all the experiences that our masks have become a part of. With the last site updates of 2015 complete, check out the last year of Wildgasmask fun (Go to our full customer gallery to see more.)
Greetings! This is Stego breaking in with an impromptu FC announcement. We are currently packing the last of our luggage and getting ready for that driving trip up to the Bay Area. One advantage of driving up there (vs. flying) is that we are able to pack more and pack other items that we like to leave away from the clumsy hands of the TSA.
Within our luggage, we will be bringing a “small lab” of tools with us. This will allow us to address any simple repair jobs for people who have brought their masks to the convention. We will also have a small selection of lenses for those who may want something different for their mask’s “eyes”.
Wildgasmasks is also in the artshow! If you wish to get ahold of one of our standard masks, you can find these items in the art show : an HG2, a KG1, and a JG 1.5. The art show begins at 10am on Friday.
We look forward to meeting our friends at this convention and having a great time. meddle and I will be running around all convention long, so if you see us and need something, do not hesitate to flag us down. For those on Twitter, you can also reach us through my public Twitter account (@stego_s_aurus_p).
We are considering what we might do with the show piece that we completed for @furcon's art show. While we do that, we want to signal boost for any other vendors or art show participants who need to recoup from the loss. Latex, leather, and kink friendly products
